Step by Step Process of Putting Fishing Line on a Reel

Putting the fish line correctly will help you to catch fishes more accurately. It will also help you to catch different species of fish at the same time. Follow the below process to know the proper way of putting fishing line on a reel:

Step-1: Choose the right fishing line

Choosing a proper fishing line is important. A wrong line can decrease your casting distance ability and make the line difficult to manage. What can you do to choose the correct fishing line? Well, you can see a number on the topside of the reel which describes the capacity of the fishing line. You can check the number to be sure about the capability of the line.

Step-2: Attach line to the reel

Attach line to the reel

In this step, you will need to attach the line to the reel. Lay you rod flat so that the spool can rest on the ground and thread the end of the line. Make sure that the bail is open at the time of attaching the line to the reel. Now, tie the first overhand knot without touching the reel. After completing the first overhand knot, you will need to wrap the line around the spool. After that, you will need to bind an overhead knot to secure the line. Make sure that you have tied the first knot outside the new knot. Now, cut the end of the line with a scissor.

Step-3: Wrap the line around the spool

This step a little bit difficult and you will need to work hard in this part. Hold the rod strongly and hold the line nearby to the first guide of the rod. Put a gentle pressure on the time of doing this and use cotton to hold the line. It will help you to hold the line tightly in a perfect manner. Now close the bail and turn the handle of the reel to the thread. Put some pressure on the line to make it tight on your reel. Do the step carefully otherwise you will end up with tangles in the offset.

Step-4: Don’t overload the spool

You have completed the harder part of the function. Now you will be able to fill up the spool with the line easily. You should not overload the spool putting too little or too much on the line. Otherwise, you will end up with too much line twist. It is advisable to leave a little gap at the top so that the reel can avoid excessive spooling. On the other hand, it is necessary to put sufficient spools on a line for avoiding friction between line and the reel.

Step-5: Attach your line

You are almost done, now you will need to attach your fishing line on the rod through all guides. Do it carefully from the beginning to the ending point. Put your rod on the ground and attach the lure carefully using your both hand.  After that, thread the tag at the end of the line through the eye of the lure and wrap three times around the line. Weave it between the gaps of the knot and wrap, and then pull tightly.

You must know the process of putting the line on the reel before going for fishing. We have discussed the whole process of doing it in above. Hopefully, the above guide will help you to put the line on the reel successfully from the next time.
